Vikings Lose Out on $76 Million Super Bowl Champion Cornerback

The Minnesota Vikings have already lost several elite-level players who were on their roster in 2023, and now the team must deal with the truth that they will not be able to sign perhaps the finest cornerback available this offseason.

L'Jarius Sneed, a Kansas City Chiefs defensive back, was never eligible for free agency since his team used the franchise tag to keep him under contract until 2024.

The Vikings were intrigued, but their hopes were dashed on Friday, March 22, when the Tennessee Titans signed a deal with Kansas City to bring the cornerback to Nashville.

"Trade: Chiefs are finalizing a trade to transfer franchise CB L'Jarius [Sneed] to the Titans, per league sources," ESPN's Adam Schefter said via X."

"The Chiefs are expected to receive a 2025 third-round pick as well as a 2024 seventh-round pick [in a swap], while Sneed will sign a new contract."

Sneed's trade is still undergoing physical verification. However, it was widely known around the league that Sneed was available for a trade.

Akayleb Evans. Murphy underwhelmed last season after signing a two-year contract with the Vikings in free agency, whereas Evans is a fourth-round pick entering his third professional season.

With Sneed no longer in the picture, the Vikings must look to free agency or the 2017 NFL draft to boost their secondary.
